It Is time to gather with family and friends and give thanks! Did you know most of the food you’ll be eating on Turkey Day feature some amazing benefits for your oral health?
Here’s 5 fast facts about Thanksgiving fixings that boost your oral health, as well as some food for thought:

    - Sugary food such as sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie and red wine contain Streptococcus mutans, which can be very harmful to your teeth and can help create plaque.
    - Try to drink water and brush your teeth after dessert in order to avoid tooth decay caused by food high in sugar.
    - Turkey contains phosphorus, which can encourage tooth development in children.
    - Cranberry Sauce with no preservatives or added sugar is extremely beneficial for your teeth, disrupting the harm caused by Streptococcus mutans.
    - Turkey stuffing, when mixed with celery and carrots contain a high amount of vitamin A, which is very beneficial for your teeth.

Just a reminder to the many families who are on a yearly Health/Flexible Savings Account – now is the time to book your dental examination before the year ends! For many of our patients, their HSA/FSA benefits end with the calendar year. Benefits that are unused by the last day in December are often lost. This “use it or lose it” concept means that making a dental appointment before the first of the new year is the best way to maximize your investment, not only in your benefits but also in your smile! We encourage you to make your appointment soon to ensure you get your deserved benefits and maintain your healthy, beautiful smile! Flexible savings can save you thousands of dollars, and enable you to receive treatment that you may otherwise be unable to afford. However, it is completely worthless if you don't use it.
We want to help you take full advantage of your benefits before time runs out! Don’t forget, dental problems don’t go away on their own – they get worse, resulting in more discomfort, inconvenience, and cost. This is an ideal time to get treatment started.
