What is Dental Wax?

Dental wax is a soft material that you can tear it into pieces and you can apply it to broken teeth that has a sharp edge and you can apply it on braces. You can get it at your local drug store.

What You Can Apply Dental Wax To?

When you have a chipped or broken tooth, you will need to come to the office as soon as you can. If you can’t get to see us there are things that you can do in the meantime to help prevent further problems. To apply the dental wax, you will first need to rinse out your mouth with warm water to clear it from any debris, then you can put the dental wax on the broken tooth to cover any sharp edges. The dental wax will prevent the sharp edges from tearing your sensitive skin inside your mouth, and also preventing any irritation and infections. There is no limit of how much dental wax you can use, just apply it as necessary until you get to come and see us.

If you or your children have braces, the wires on the braces can break, and that will cause them to poke the skin inside of your mouth, making it very uncomfortable, and can cause you skin to be irritated or leave cuts inside your mouth. The broken wire will need to be fixed as soon as possible, but you may not have the time to get to the office, here is where the dental wax will come in handy, or you can bend the wire back into place, if the wire can’t be bent back into place, use the dental wax. You can use a small piece of wax over the broken wire and stop it from grazing the skin.

If you have any questions or concerns about dental wax or anything in general, please don’t hesitate to call us or come by for a visit. Here at Charlotte Emergency Dental in North Carolina, we strive to provide the best care possible.
